As Britain’s favourite mountain, Helvellyn is the ultimate adventure. We are based at the foot of the Helvellyn Massif, and our guides can lead you safely over the Helvellyn Edges – Striding Edge & Swirral Edge.
Day 1: Swirral Edge (17km & 1150m ascent) The easier of the two edges is a good introduction to an easy scramble which requires the use of hands and feet and time can be taken to ensure your confidence and safety to the summit. Head south from the summit & we will walk along the backbone of Helvellyn over Nethermost Pike, High Crag and Dollywagon Pike before descending to Grisedale Tarn & back to Glenridding via Grisedale to complete your day.
Day 2: Place Fell (11km & 700m ascent) A great way to view the Helvellyn Massif, in all its glory form high above the shores of Ullswater. Our day will start with a trip on the Ullswater Steamers to give the Ultimate Ullswater experience. This middle day of walking will be less arduous than that of day 1 and 3, and have a more relaxed approach with time to stop and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains as we walk on fell east of the Ullswater Valley.
Day 3: Striding Edge (13km & 1000m ascent) The ultimate ascent to the summit, a mild grade 1 scramble, under the careful supervision of our guides. On reaching the summit, this time we turn north along the ridge to Helvellyn Lower Man, Whiteside and descend into the Glenridding Valley at Kepple Cove, with the option to complete the ridge and summit Raise, and a couple more if the time allows.
Cost: £195 per walkerbased on a minimum of 6 walkers (quote for fewer walkers on request)
Additional charges:
Ullswater Steamers for start and finish of your walk on day 2
