Helvellyn – the Complete Ridgeline
Explore the Helvellyn Ridgeline – this full-day hike ticks off Helvellyn and six further summits along the route.
We begin by ascending the stunning Grisedale valley, pausing at the Brothers Parting Stone (where William and Dorothy Wordsworth said goodbye to their brother John for the last time), to reach Grisedale Tarn. Next is the stiff climb to the summit of Dollywaggon Pike, then an undulating section with stunning views on each side – dramatic steep coves to the east and sweeping fells to the west – to reach the summit of Nethermost Pike.
Next comes the penultimate peak... Helvellyn, taking in the site of the famous aeroplane landing and views down into the Sugar Bowl (a favourite descent for skiers!) and north towards the Northern Fells, Skiddaw and Blencathra... and, on an exceptionally clear day, even the Solway Firth and the Scottish Coast!
Our return journey takes in Helvellyn Lower Man, Whiteside and potentially Raise, with a brief visit to The Lake District Ski Club's ski tow which sits on the northern flanks of Raise (weather and participant dependent), before descending via Sticks Pass or Keppel Cove to Greenside Mines and a stroll back to the while village reflecting on our day.

No-one knows the fells around Ullswater quite like Nic and her team. They are incredibly flexible, tailor to everything your requirements, and make sure you have the best time possible. Nic's pre-walk research always means she has a new fact (or ten) every time you go out, so not only is it a great walk, but you learn as you go, too!
Nic was a fantastic guide in beautiful countryside. She showed us routes that were off the beaten track and kept us entertained throughout. Many thanks, loved it!
