Tour of Derwent Water via Watendlath (from Keswick)

A super low level & long hike for a good stride out. Take in Watendleth and complete this 23km route, or take a shorter option of 15km.

Take a full day's tour around Derwent Water, via the hidden Watendleth hamlet. Our route weaves on and off the valley floor for the best views and waterfalls along the way.

This fabulous 23km route explores the treasures, best views and waterfalls around Derwent Water without having to climb up into the mountains. Our route starts at the north end of Derwent Water, in Keswick itself. This shoreline start is a great chance to warm up for full day out. Next gently head up to the sleepy valley of Watendlath along the Watendleth Beck.

We drop down to Rosthwaite Village with a chance of a cup of tea and cake treat after our picnic. Our return is weaving in and out of the woodland adjacent to the River Derwent before heading onto Catbells Terrace with views down Derwent Water.

The last part of our journey returns through Portinscale Village and back to Keswick.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a long day out (approx 8 hours) and preferable for a day with longer daylight hours and an earlier start.

Half day hike £150 for one walker + £30 each additional walker
